What to Expect When You Visit Maui

So, you’re planning a visit to the Valley Isle, the beautiful island of Maui, Hawaii! Congratulations! You won’t regret making Maui your next vacation destination!

Over 30 Miles of Sandy Beaches

If you’ve been here before, you know that Maui is an island that offers so much beauty and variety, from its 30-plus miles of stunning beaches to the incredible array of activities and attractions that will keep you busy from sunrise to sunset — and loving every minute of it! If you’re new to this stunning tropical isle, you’re in for a real treat! The white, yellow, red, and black sands that cover our incredible beaches will delight your senses, and you’ll have even more fun when you rent a moped from Maui Scooter Shack to see the sights. Our mopeds and scooters are two of the best ways to explore the island, giving you an up-close-and-personal view of nature’s tropical wonders.

A Ton of Activities You’ll Love

From whale watching in Kihei to snorkeling at Molikini, you’ll find no shortage of fun things to do on the island. In fact, right here in Kihei, where you can stop by Maui Scooter Shack to pick up your moped rental before you head on your way for an amazing day, you’ll have a great time doing one (or more than one!) of the following activities on one of our lovely local beaches, making the most of the 70-80 degree Fahrenheit air temperatures and the 80-degree ocean temperatures we enjoy year-round:

  • Surf
  • Swim
  • Boogie, paddle, or body board
  • Walk or jog
  • Picnic or BBQ
  • Play basketball, volleyball, or tennis
  • Visit our skate and bike park
  • Watch the sun set
  • Turtle watch
  • Whale watch (during whale season: late November through April)

A Few of Maui’s Many Exciting Attractions

The island of Maui also features the colossal Lahaina Banyan Tree, the oldest tree in the state of Hawaii and an amazing wonder of nature that stands over 60 feet tall, spans more than 200 feet in length, and shades nearly 2/3 of an acre of land. It features a huge core and 12 major trunks! You really have to see this tree up close to believe it! And don’t forget to take pictures of yourself and your fellow vacationers totally dwarfed by this gigantic tree! You’ll definitely want to remember this incredible experience once you leave the island, and just to make sure your friends believe you, you’ll want to bring home proof that you stood in the shadow of the world-famous Banyan Tree!

Other exciting attractions include Haleakala Crater, the largest dormant volcano in the world and the only place on Maui where temperatures can drop to 40 degrees F at night. (So, if you plan to hike the crater, bring warm clothing — despite the mild daytime temperatures!)

The Road to Hana is an incredibly scenic drive that offers many amazing points of interest along the way. It is a long drive, however (61 miles from Kihei to Hana), with quite a winding portion of road that some might find unpleasant. For those who can handle the drive, careful planning is key in order to set out early enough to miss the worst of the traffic, see the sights and still make it back before dark. (Hana is a three-hour drive from Kihei.)

There’s far too much to do and see on Maui to take it all in during a single trip, so you’ll definitely want to plan another visit soon. But, whatever your plans, whenever you visit, be sure to stop by Maui Scooter Shack to rent the moped that will make your visit even more fun! Our mopeds are easy to operate, and we have just the right model for you, regardless of your level of experience.
